Vote NO on Funding Religious Schools with Public Dollars
We must protect our religious liberty, the separation of church and state, and taxpayer funds. Tell the Oklahoma Virtual Charter School Board to vote NO to creating a state-funded religious school.
On June 5th, the OKVCSB will vote on the application of St. Isidore, a Catholic virtual charter school. If approved, the school would be our nation's first publicly-funded religious school. Not only would its approval be a violation of Oklahoma law, it would also test our understanding of the Constitution.
- The separation of church and state guarantees us the right to worship free from government interference. A state-funded religious school is akin to state-sponsored religion.
- Oklahoma's public schools are among the lowest funded in the nation. We cannot afford to divert dollars to unconstitutional religious schools.
- Public education dollars must be protected for inclusive, accountable public schools that welcome and serve ALL students.
