SLOW DOWN, and DO IT RIGHT!
Tell the Board of Education to VOTE TO DELAY the Regional Program plan on March 26, 2026. Equity and Quality are equally important!
Regional Program sounds like a beautiful plan to make students smart again, why delay?
Because MCPS
Underestimates the true implementation cost, including teacher hiring, staffing, professional training, curriculum development, transportation, program outcome assessment, enrichment activities
Creates logistic burdens to students and families by limiting transportation to routes only between home high schools and regional program schools
Risks weakening all nationally recognized countywide programs, shrinking cohort, likely staff cut, fewer advanced electives, and diminish quality
Lacks clear evidence that program placement aligns with actual student interest and community demand in each region
Restricts students from applying to programs outside their assigned region, even when those programs may be geographically closer or a better academic fit
Diverts resources from early grade (K-2) interventions that are critical for building more equitable academic pipeline
BOE should direct their only employee, MCPS Superintendent, to SLOW DOWN and DO IT RIGHT!
How BOE handles Regional Program Analysis shall determine how you vote in June and November!
