Washington Legislature: No Tax Exemptions for the Richest Companies!
Data center expansion is straining Washington State's grid, raising energy and land costs, increasing blackout risk, triggering new oil and gas generation, and crowding out clean energy for homes and small businesses.
Meanwhile, from 2012–2023, Washington gave data centers $584 million in tax exemptions, creating just 260 jobs statewide, at up to $205,000 per job.
Senate Bill 6231 would sunset these tax breaks for the world's wealthiest companies....but Big Tech is lobbying to block the bill in Washington's legislature,
Communities deserve to know how public resources are used - and who pays the cost.
We need transparency. We need accountability. We need SB 6231.
