Washington University Letter to the Administration: Genocide is Not Normal
On Saturday, April 13, 2024. Students, Alumni, and Community Members disrupted an admissions day event in Graham Chapel. 12 people were arrested, 3 of them students were also suspended. This was three weeks after the Student Union passed a resolution calling on WashU to divest from the war profiteering company, Boeing. The student directives have so far been ignored by the administration.
We are calling on our community, and alumni in particular, to urge the administration to engage in meaningful dialogue and transparency regarding its investment practices and institutional decisions. By holding the university accountable for its actions and decisions, we hope to promote a culture of accountability and integrity within the institution.
The letter serves as a powerful tool to advocate for the rights of students who are facing punitive measures for exercising their freedom of expression and protesting unethical practices. By writing and sending the letter, you're amplifying their voices and demanding that the administration respect their rights to dissent and engage in activism.
