We Support a Fair Contract for Sesame Workers!

We Support a Fair Contract for Sesame Workers

Please send a letter to Sesame Workshop leadership to support workers at Sesame to win a strong first contract!

In May 2025, we, the workers at Sesame Workshop, won our union with 74% voting to unionize. Since then we have been negotiating for our first contract. We have three major priorities for our first contract:

1. Fair Pay for all Sesame Workers

We can’t afford to live on Sesame Street. Roughly one-third of people working in our unit make under the living wage for NYC, according to the Economic Policy Institute calculations. Our lowest paid employee makes around 56k a year, while our CEO makes over a million a year. There is no reason that Sesame Workshop – and all that we stand for – should tolerate this kind of inequity. We want fair pay for all of the work that we do.

2. Job Security

We want to stay at Sesame doing the work we love. After losing over 100 fellow employees with only a day’s notice in March of 2025, job security is on everyone’s mind. We want a guarantee of fair severance for all employees, as well as respect for the incredible contributions for those who have given so much to make Sesame what it is today. We also want protections around AI and the future of Sesame.

3. Family-Friendly Policies

We want Sesame to practice what they preach as a family-focused company. We want guarantees about hybrid work, remote work, and additional policies which impact the well-being of our families.

We ask for management to provide real counter-proposals, not just all of our proposals crossed out with red ink and references to the employee handbook.

We all know how important Sesame Street is. It inspires us to be kind, to work together, to hope for a better world. We want to go a step further and apply those values to all the amazing people who have dedicated their lives to Sesame.
