We want Tri-Rail, not Detention Centers in the Everglades
Palm Beach Post: Tri-Rail: Train service will run out of money by end of 2026 because of state budget cuts
"They managed to build a detention center in the middle of the Everglades" for $450 million to $600 million, he said, "and we don't have $40 million for public transportation," referencing the state-made-and-run immigration jail in Collier County for alleged undocumented immigrants, which Republican state officials call "Alligator Alcatraz."
Instead of funding Tri-Rail, which is actually needed, used, and appreciated by Miami, Broward, and Palm Beach counties, the State of Florida has decided to fund an unneeded and unwanted detention center in our state parks as a cruel stunt.
Our tax dollars should go towards our needed services, not political stunts nobody wants. We depend on Tri-Rail.
