Trump’s Internment Camps are a moral stain on our nation. Tell the White House Faith Office to condemn Trump’s treatment of migrants.
Donald Trump has resurrected one of the most shameful chapters of American history in bringing back internment camps.
The so-called “Alligator Alcatraz” built on an abandoned airstrip in the middle of the Florida Everglades has been the recipient of widespread complaints of human rights abuses, including serving food full of maggots1, withholding medication from detainees, forcing people to sleep under bright lights in rooms with overflowing toilets and sewage spilling on the floor2.
People have been denied access to their attorneys or had interactions with attorneys monitored and recorded3, all of which is illegal. Many have no criminal record4. Some are U.S. citizens. At least one was a minor child5.
All of this is being done under Trump’s authority invoking the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, the same law used to justify WW-II internment camps.
But Alligator Alcatraz is not an isolated case. There are hundreds of these facilities being built across the country. The next one could be in your backyard.
That’s why people of faith and leaders of good conscience are raising their voices to STOP THE CAMPS.
We call on the leaders of the White House Faith Office, Pastor Paula White-Cain, Jennifer S. Korn, and Jackson Lane, to uphold the principles of their own faith and the laws of our nation – and publicly condemn these camps.
Join us, and send a letter to all three today. The letter is drafted for you, but you are encouraged to personalize it and add your own reasons for joining this campaign.
Thank you for taking the time to raise your voice.
