Wilmington City Council, we need rent stabilization now!
Rent is too high in Delaware, with renters needing to earn over $30 an hour to afford a 2-bedroom, while the minimum wage is only $15. In Wilmington, where over 25% of residents live below the poverty line, rent stabilization would limit yearly rent increases, protecting tenants from excessive hikes and helping families stay in their homes. This policy has been successful in other states and cities, balancing fair returns for landlords with protections for renters. Stable, affordable housing strengthens our health, safety, and communities. Everyone deserves a secure, healthy home without sacrificing other essentials to afford it.
Send a letter to Wilmington City Council urging them to pass rent stabilization and help make housing fair and accessible for all.
