YOUR ACTION NEEDED TODAY: Tell Mayor Wu to sign the home rule petition for an Elected School Committee!

Boston residents deserve the same voting rights as citizens in every other city and town in Massachusetts, and we showed it when a whopping 78% of us voted in favor of an elected school committee in November 2021.

Our City Council has now voted to right this 30-year voting rights wrong, as well as to add full student representation to the school committee! We're thrilled, and the next step is for Mayor Wu to sign these petitions and advance them to the State House. Unfortunately the mayor has doubled down on keeping the unresponsive, disappointing committee structure now in place: https://www.wgbh.org/news/politics/2023/02/14/mayor-wu-doubles-down-on-her-opposition-to-an-elected-school-committee.

That's where you come in! Mayor Wu needs to know that you want an elected Boston School Committee and that you expect her to sign and advance these important home rule petitions!

Please take a minute to send Mayor Wu an email using this tool and let her know you support an elected Boston School Committee and full student representation. And once you’ve emailed, you can also call her office and leave a message with her staff! The mayoral office number is 617-635-4500.

Together we can raise our voices to a level that Mayor Wu can't ignore! Please circulate this letter campaign widely and follow us on Twitter and Facebook @ElectTheBSC for updates.

In solidarity,

Bostonians for an Elected School Committee
