YWCA needs your support!
Things are moving quickly at Legislative Hall right now, and this is one of those weeks when speaking up can make a positive impact.
At YWCA Delaware, we're asking legislators to protect and strengthen Grant-in-Aid (GIA) funding for FY26 so we can continue serving more than 8,000 Delawareans each year.
The people impacted by GIA funding are not strangers. They're the parent quietly starting over after surviving abuse and finally finding stable housing. They're the family sitting around the kitchen table with keys to their very first home because someone at YWCA Delaware walked them through the financial maze step by step. They're teenagers discovering they actually do have a voice and they're using it. They're neighbors trying to navigate rent increases, childcare headaches, and grocery bills.
When nonprofit services disappear, the needs don't disappear with them. They often shift to already-strained schools, emergency rooms, and overburdened public systems. Grant-in-Aid funding helps organizations like YWCA Delaware respond earlier and more efficiently, keeping families stable before situations become far more costly for everyone involved.
Federal support continues to shrink in several areas, and without adequate GIA funding, we may face difficult decisions about reducing programs that thousands of Delawareans rely on every single day.
