Something Better for San Bernardino

City Council of San Bernardino

To Honorable San Bernardino Council, Mayor, and City Staff:

The Carousel Mall development must prioritize community needs! I support a Community Benefits Agreement that guarantees healthy local economic development, good jobs for San Bernardino residents, affordable housing, clean energy and transportation investments, and robust community input for the Carousel Mall redevelopment.

On August 18th, 2021, San Bernardino City Council Members and Mayor Valdivia voted unanimously to authorize the City Manager to begin negotiations between the City of San Bernardino and San Bernardino Development Company LLC (also known as RDICO) for the Carousel Mall property. It is necessary to have a Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) prior to finalizing a disposition development agreement (DDA) and entering the next phase of development. The people of San Bernardino deserve a strong CBA with groundbreaking benefits for clean air, climate, equity, housing, jobs, and economic prosperity.

By prioritizing an inclusive community process throughout the development agreement timeline, the City of San Bernardino can ensure an equitable investment that benefits all of our residents, including the most vulnerable. Please encourage RDICO to continue to work with stakeholders from Something Better for San Bernardino to build a strong and binding Community Benefits Agreement that will achieve this!

Sincerely,

Atentamente,
