Adam Smith: Stop Arming Israel! Support an Arms Embargo to End Military Aid for Genocide

In the 77 years following the Nakba (the violent, forced displacement of Palestinians from their home), Israel has continued to carry out and escalate their cruelty with massive financial and military support from the United States. The US has sent over $228 billion to Israel, enabling a genocide that has killed an estimated 680,000 Palestinians in the last two years alone, over half of the victims being children younger than five years old.
Adam Smith, as Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Committee and Representative of Washington’s 9th Congressional District, has the power to affect the unabated flow of weapons and aid to Israel, but chooses not to.
While Smith has paid lip service to humanitarian concerns, he has consistently opposed taking concrete action, such as supporting House Resolution 3565 to restrict arms sales to Israel.
Through his legislative actions, Smith has demonstrated that he is loyal only to his donors, who directly profit from the ongoing slaughter. His duty, however, is to listen to his constituents. The people of Washington’s 9th Congressional District refuse to let the continued massacre of Palestinians and destruction of their land be done in their name.
As per our demands, Representative Smith will:
Publicly support and co-sponsor all existing legislation, e.g. HR3565, which halts or restricts the flow of arms to Israel.
Propose new legislation that halts or restricts the flow of arms to Israel in the case that there is no outstanding legislation to that effect currently on the table.
Publicly call for an end to all military aid to Israel.
Adam Smith’s empty words of concern mean nothing in the face of his continued military and financial support of Israel’s genocide. We demand action.
