On February 28, the United States bombed an Iranian elementary school for girls, killing 185 children and launching a regional war in West Asia. In doing so, the Trump Administration violated Iran’s sovereignty and escalated its indiscriminate bombing campaign against civilians in Lebanon and Palestine. The joint US-Israeli attack on Iran is not an attempt to liberate anyone, but to eliminate the last bastion of sovereignty in West Asia and secure complete hegemony. Beyond that, this barbaric war does not benefit the American people in any way.
Since then, Trump has spent over $32 billion and counting of taxpayer money bombing Iran. This is the same war machine that has sent over $300 billion to fund Israel’s 78-year-long genocide against the Palestinians. In the last three years alone, Israel has killed over 680,000 Palestinians, over half of whom are children younger than five years old.
Adam Smith, as Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Committee and Representative of Washington’s 9th Congressional District, has the power to make changes to Department of War funding and ground operations. This includes limiting the use of unregulated AI in surveillance and warfare, the use of which has drastically increased the number of people killed. AI surveillance trained on Palestinians is used in Minneapolis and other sites of ICE’s illegal raids to detain, deport, and unjustly murder our neighbors. Furthermore, he is capable of proposing legislation to end the war, initiating investigations, and ceasing the unabated flow of weapons to Israel. Though he has claimed opposition to the Trump Administration and has verbally called for an end to the war on Iran, he has not exercised any of his powers to materially end this war.
Through his legislative actions, Smith has proven he is loyal only to his donors. He is the 4th largest recipient of Palantir funding, pocketing $1.3 million and counting in blood money. He directly profits from the ongoing slaughter of Palestinians, taking massive bribes from Palantir, Microsoft, and Boeing and turning them into violent legislation. The people of Washington’s 9th Congressional District demand that our tax dollars cease being used for war and genocide in Iran and West Asia.
As per our demands, Representative Smith will:
Block all spending for Trump’s war on Iran, effective immediately.
Exercise any and all power held, whether as the ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee or as the Representative of Washington’s 9th Congressional District, to end the war on Iran.
Exercise any and all power held to end the flow of arms to Israel and support an arms embargo.
Immediately call a hearing for an investigation into US and Israeli war crimes and demand accountability for all responsible.
Adam Smith’s empty words of concern mean nothing in the face of his continued military and financial support of Israel’s genocide on Palestinians and illegal war on Iran. We demand action.

In the 77 years following the Nakba (the violent, forced displacement of Palestinians from their home), Israel has continued to carry out and escalate their cruelty with massive financial and military support from the United States. The US has sent over $228 billion to Israel, enabling a genocide that has killed an estimated 680,000 Palestinians in the last two years alone, over half of the victims being children younger than five years old.
Adam Smith, as Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Committee and Representative of Washington’s 9th Congressional District, you have the power to affect the unabated flow of weapons and aid to Israel, but you choose not to.
While you have paid lip service to humanitarian concerns, you have consistently opposed taking concrete action, such as supporting House Resolution 3565 to restrict arms sales to Israel.
Through your legislative actions, you have demonstrated that you are loyal only to your donors, who directly profit from the ongoing slaughter. Your duty, however, is to listen to your constituents. The people of Washington’s 9th Congressional District refuse to let the continued massacre of Palestinians and destruction of their land be done in their name.
Representative Smith, we demand the following actions be taken immediately:
1) Publicly support and co-sponsor all existing legislation, e.g. HR3565, which halts or restricts the flow of arms to Israel.
2) Propose new legislation that halts or restricts the flow of arms to Israel in the case that there is no outstanding legislation to that effect currently on the table.
3) Publicly call for an end to all military aid to Israel.
