Why isn't every Harris Teeter employee receiving Sunday Pay?

All Harris Teeter employees have earned and deserve Sunday premium pay, but right now only some stores receive this benefit. Sign the petition to make $1/hour extra on Sundays a consistent policy at every store.

We believe Sunday premium pay is a benefit that all Harris Teeter employees have earned and deserve. We know Sundays are the busiest shopping day of the week, and we are proud to offer our customers excellent service on this important day for families.

Many of us who work at Harris Teeter stores in Maryland, northern Virginia, and the District of Columbia already receive Sunday premium pay. However, the amount of premium pay is inconsistent, and the rest of us in North Carolina, South Carolina, southern Virginia, and Delaware stores are left out completely. That's wrong.

Sunday pay should be a consistent company policy implemented at every Harris Teeter store.

Sunday Premium Pay is not only good for us, but it would be good for business. Many grocery companies like Giant and Safeway offer extra pay on Sunday, and we know Harris Teeter wishes to remain competitive with other grocers. We also know that it is difficult to have enough staff at some stores on Sundays, and premium pay would add an incentive to ensure we are fully staffed during the busy weekend day.

Sunday is historically a day of rest and a day for faith and family. For those of us who have to spend this day at work rather than with our loved ones, we think it's only fair for a company as profitable and successful as Harris Teeter to provide premium pay for all Sundays worked.

Providing all Harris Teeter employees who work on Sunday at least $1.00/hour extra is the right thing to do.

We believe that Sunday premium pay will help with staffing, provide a competitive business advantage for the company, and reward our hard work that generates so much profit for Harris Teeter.
