Tell Amazon: Stop Polluting Our Planet With Plastic Packaging

Amazon.com

From polystyrene peanuts to non-recyclable bubble wrap to plastic-wrapped pouches of air, almost every Amazon order arrives wrapped in plastic packaging that is then thrown away or littered.

A new report by Oceana found that Amazon generated a truly staggering 709 million pounds of plastic packaging waste in 2021 - an 18% increase over 2020's estimate of 599 million pounds of plastic waste.

Based on data from a peer-reviewed study on plastic waste pollution published in Science in 2020, they also found that up to 26 million pounds of this plastic waste will end up in the world’s waterways and seas.

I urge you to stop polluting our planet with single-use plastic packaging and to offer customers a plastic-free packaging option at check-out by December 2024, if not much sooner.
