Arms Embargo Now: End the Port Authority of NY/ NJ's Military Shipments to Israel
Port Authority of NY and NJ
Research from Palestinian Youth Movement has shown that weapons and military equipment are being exported from JFK Airport located in Queens, New York and Port Elizabeth in New Jersey on its way to Israel with the end user being the Israeli military. Recent exports have included:
Several tons of the dangerous explosive nitrocellulose, found to be prone to spontaneous combustion, and used to manufacture bombs and bullets after arriving in Israel
Several parts for F-35 stealth fighters used in the ongoing bombing campaigns of Gaza. This includes the BRU-68, a bomb release unit that is designed to carry and eject munitions from the F-35 fighter jet and is capable of holding up to 2000 lb bombs.
Military supplies for export to Israel are manufactured in the United States by several companies, including Elbit Systems, and are shipped by shipping companies including Maersk and Zim.
The Port Authority of NY and NJ has chosen to allow these shipments out of JFK and Port Elizabeth, which are directly facilitating Israel's genocide of the Palestinian people. These weapons and military equipment are used to bomb hospitals, schools, mosques, churches, and refugee shelters in Gaza. Over 60,000 Palestinians have been killed with such weapons. Not only that, but Gaza is starving under a United States-Israeli manufactured famine. As of July 2025, 500,000 Gazans including over 320,000 children - the entire population under five in the Gaza Strip - are at risk of acute malnutrition.
Many New York and New Jersey residents live, work and travel near facilities that contain military equipment, including dangerous explosives prone to spontaneous combustion. As a public entity, the PANYNJ is responsible for public safety, security, and environmental regulations within its jurisdiction, but has neglected its responsibility for safety by allowing dangerous explosives to be located in our communities, all while facilitating a genocide abroad.
We are joining the majority of Americans across the country who disapprove of the military action Israel has taken in Gaza, and demand that the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey enact an arms embargo, now!
