Ask Arvada for Time, Place, and Manner regulations on Psilocybin Mushroom Businesses
The Honorable Mayor and City Council of Arvada
If you are an Arvada resident, please sign this petition asking Arvada City Council to exercise their legal authority to protect citizens by amending the Land Development Code to include setbacks and other common sense regulations for time, place, and manner of natural medicine/psilocybin mushroom businesses, including prohibition of GMO and non-native mushrooms and future synthetic production, PRIOR to accepting or approving psilocybin business applications.
I agree that time, place and manner regulations need to be in place to protect citizens PRIOR to the City of Arvada accepting applications for psilocybin mushroom businesses.
Under state law, Arvada is required to allow natural medicine (psilocybin mushroom) offices and production facilities in our communities. Arvada City Council voted to amend the Land Development Code (LDC) on August 19th to include psilocybin but did agree to look closer at regulation of time, place and manner to address the community's concerns. Other cities such as Breckenridge, Parker, Castle Rock, and Colorado Springs have adopted increased protection of citizens. Meaningful local regulations such as setbacks of 1,000 feet between all natural medicine businesses and residential areas, hazmat prohibition, odor and HVAC controls, and hours of operation are critical and time sensitive to have in place prior to these businesses coming into Arvada. Additionally, a prohibition of GMO and non-native mushrooms, and future synthetic production would help protect not only our residents but our environment as well.
