Ask Mayor Mamdani To Adopt A Cat From NYCACC
NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani
Mayor Mamdani,
You've taken on rent, transit, and childcare. We'd like to propose one more addition to the agenda — a bit smaller, and considerably furrier.
New York City is home to thousands of cats waiting for homes at Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC), the city's only open-admission shelter system. Every day, ACC works to find loving homes for cats and dogs across all five boroughs. A mayoral adoption would be a wonderful way to show that this city's commitment to New Yorkers extends to the four-legged ones too.
Here's the exciting part: no NYC mayor has ever adopted a cat from ACC. You could be the first. Picture it — Gracie Mansion with a new resident curled up somewhere unexpected, keeping a watchful eye on the next policy briefing.
We're asking you to:
🐾 Visit an ACC shelter and meet some adoptable cats
🐾 Adopt a cat (or two, if the spirit moves you)
🐾 Show New Yorkers that local shelters are the first stop for anyone looking to welcome a pet into their home
A mayoral adoption would shine a spotlight on ACC and the thousands of animals in its care, and send a clear, positive message: when New Yorkers are looking for a pet, the city's own shelters come first.
Sign if you think Mayor Mamdani should adopt his First Cat from ACC.

We, the undersigned, are asking Mayor Mamdani to:
Visit an Animal Care Centers of NYC shelter and meet some of the cats currently available for adoption
Adopt a cat (or two, if the spirit moves him) from ACC
Use this moment to encourage New Yorkers to consider local shelters first when welcoming a pet into their home
Thank you.
