Revoke Prof. Paul Kottman's Termination from The New School
President Towers and The New School Board of Trustees
In his position as Chair of the Liberal Studies department, in addition to his role in Eugene Lang college, Paul has made significant positive contributions to us, his former students, to the New School more broadly, and the greater intellectual discourse more broadly still. Terminating his position is a foolhardy move that The New School can ill-afford to make if it wants to recover from the institutional tailspin it finds itself in. Therefore we urge you to reconsider and retract it.

President Towers and New School Board of Trustees,
We advocate for you to immediately rescind the termination of Paul Kottman's position at The New School. Paul has been a consummate educator and scholar, and The New School will be the worse for losing him.
We also urge you to reconsider the other faculty layoffs you initiated in the first part of 2026. This is not the way to protect and steward The New School through its challenges!
