Ban Roundup in St. Pete!

St. Petersburg City Council

Most of us take it for granted that the food we buy for our families, or the grass we play on in the schoolyard, is not putting our health at risk.

However, new research, including some done by the World Health Organization, found that Roundup, and its main ingredient called “glyphosate,” is a probable carcinogen

But Roundup is not just glyphosate. It is a cocktail of different chemicals, and there is mounting evidence that this cocktail could be a dangerous one. Two studies determined that herbicides like Roundup, were more likely to cause cell-cycle dysregulation, a hallmark of cancer, than glyphosate alone.

There is clearly enough evidence to indicate that we shouldn’t be needlessly exposing ourselves to something that has the potential to cause such serious harm.

We are calling on the St. Petersburg City Council to ban Roundup on public schools, parks, and public lands until independent research can prove it’s safe.
