As you know, us booksellers and baristas at the Almaden Plaza unionized last Fall, with a 92% vote in support of representation. For nearly a year, our bargaining committee has been in multiple sessions with management to secure a fair contract. Unfortunately, a fair and just solution for our store has not been agreed upon. The “last, best, and final” offer from Barnes and Noble has majorly fallen short of our expectations and needs, especially with our store closing in January 2025.

This November, we voted NO on this offer-- an 100% rejection, and voted to authorize a strike, to stand firm for a contract that respects our rights and the value of our contributions. Us union booksellers deserve a fair contract, and if a new store opens up within 10 miles of this current location, workers should have rights to transfer there and retain their union status! We stand united and ready to fight for the rights we know we deserve. This petition delivery represents our immediate declaration of a strike.
