Bay Path Teachers Need a Contract!

Demand the School Committee resume negotiations with the BPTA, and settle a contract with the paraprofessionals who have been fighting for a living wage for more than 18 months!

—-----------------------------

Bay Path educators are poised to begin this school year without a contract.

Bay Path paraprofessionals have been working without a contract since June 2025.

The BPTA educators started our negotiations last November. The District’s lawyers refused to discuss the union’s contract until the BPTA agreed to give up our union rights to have our members (silent representatives) present for negotiations. When the Union refused to give up the legal right to decide its own bargaining team, the District team walked out of the March 19th bargaining session.

Since that date, the District leadership has refused to resume negotiations. This refusal to bargain is against the law. This violation was acknowledged by the State’s Labor Department with an Unfair Labor Practice charge.

Silent representatives are essential for the BPTA to participate in an open, transparent, and representative bargaining process. Our union represents 23 different shops, 4 core academics, and multiple special service departments like guidance, special education, ELL, physical ed/ health, etc.

The School Committee breaking the law and walking out of the room because they were “uncomfortable” speaking in front of their own employees whose contract they are bargaining is unacceptable.

Sign our petition to tell the School Committee Chair, Robert Tremblay, the School Committee Negotiations Lead Dave Grenier, and the rest of the District bargaining team:

  1. To return to the table

  2. Bargain a fair contract with the teaching staff

  3. Settle a fair contract with the paraprofessionals that provides a living wage.

The time and money of our District belong in our school, with our students and staff, not in the pocket of lawyers.
