All Members of Congress
The $2.2 trillion CARES Act was supposed to offer much needed support to those suffering most from the pandemic. But hidden in the bill was an obscure $135 billion tax break for the richest 1%, slipped in by Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans. It gives 43,000 millionaires an average $1.6 million tax break apiece in 2020.
A national coalition made up of advocacy groups and elected officials is fighting to repeal the $135 billion tax giveaway and instead put that aid where the need is greatest. We succeeded in getting the giveaway repealed in the recently-passed House HEROES Act. By making the repeal permanent it will raise $250 billion for financial aid to families and communities hurt by the pandemic.
Now, the fight shifts to the Senate where 24 senators (including six former 2020 presidential candidates) have introduced legislation to repeal the Millionaires Giveaway. We need your support to win there.
Become a grassroots co-signer of S. 3640 and H.R. 6579 to repeal the egregious #MillionairesGiveaway―and instead put that aid where the need is greatest―protecting public health; providing funding that helps keep workers employed and gives more direct aid to families; and supporting our states and municipalities that are on the frontlines of this pandemic.

In the midst of a pandemic, it’s critical that Congress put aid and resources where the need is greatest. We demand that you repeal the $135 billion tax break for 43,000 millionaire business owners and instead direct that aid to people, families and communities most in need.
