Bee Happy in Kent
Cllr Carey, Cabinet Member for the Environment at Kent County Council
Despite KCC having a "Bee Pollinator Action Plan", they continue to kill weeds using glyphosate which is known to be harmful to bees as well as posing a significant risk to human health and the environment. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), glyphosate is "probably carcinogenic".
We need pollinators and we need a healthy environment. With other councils no longer using glyphosate it is time that KCC follows suit.
With the Earth facing the sixth mass extinction, we are calling on KCC to take one small step and to stop damaging the environment with this poison.
