Bring back our trash cans!

We’re calling on the administration to bring back public trash cans in our residential neighborhoods. As part of the City’s in-house trash collection pilot, trash cans were removed from residential areas to prioritize main thoroughfares and commercial corridors. While keeping our busiest streets clean is important, our residential neighborhoods deserve the same attention.
Since the removal, residents have faced more litter, dog waste, and fewer convenient places to dispose of everyday garbage. Public trash cans are a simple but essential part of keeping our sidewalks, streets, and shared spaces clean.
Everyone deserves to live in a clean neighborhood, regardless of where they live in Jersey City. We’re asking the City to listen to residents, restore public trash cans in residential areas, and ensure that sanitation efforts serve our entire community.

I am calling on the City of Jersey City to restore public trash cans in residential neighborhoods that were removed as part of the City's in-house trash collection pilot program.
We understand the City's decision to prioritize main thoroughfares and commercial corridors as part of its efforts to improve sanitation. However, residential neighborhoods deserve the same attention and access to basic sanitation services.
Since the removal of public trash cans, residents have faced increased concerns about litter, dog waste, and the lack of convenient places to dispose of everyday garbage. Without accessible public trash cans, waste is more likely to end up on sidewalks, in gutters, and in other public spaces, making our neighborhoods less clean and less enjoyable for everyone.
We are asking the City to restore public trash cans in residential neighborhoods and work with residents to ensure that the in-house collection pilot addresses the sanitation needs of the entire community.
Bring back our neighborhood trash cans!
