Jon Freeman,
We represent the Brooklyn Strategist community; we are customers, parents, and players, all unified in wishing the best for the Brooklyn Strategist and its employees.
A supermajority of Brooklyn Strategist staff recently presented a petition to you calling for the recognition of their union, Brooklyn Strategist Workers United. Advocating for a safer and more democratic workplace, your employees have made clear their desires to unionize and collectively bargain. The workers cite low pay, retributive management, and a lack of job security as primary concerns that they face. We, as community members, also ask you to recognize their union.
We are watching your response; just as your workers sought union recognition, harsh measures were imposed preventing after-school registration as well as supervisors from ordering inventory. If management and ownership are engaging in anti-union activities impeding your staff’s ability to organize, we will come together to make our voices heard. The communities that frequent your store will not stand idly by in the face of threats against staff, falsehoods about unionization, or the erosion of your workers’ rights. We join your employees’ call, in the spirit of cooperation, to recognize them and bargain in good faith.
The employees of the Brooklyn Strategist seek respect, safety, and fairness within a democratic workplace. They are joined in this call by the employees of Hex & Co., as well as the Uncommons. Your employees are exercising their legal right to fight for a better workplace, and we stand strong with them. Demonstrate your commitment to your community by recognizing Brooklyn Strategist Workers United now.
