It has never been more urgent for the San Francisco Bay Area's leaders to take bold steps to fix our failing public transportation system.
Bay Area leaders must take decisive action to create a unified, world-class public transportation system, empowering people to move around the region quickly, easily and cost-effectively.
Our fragmented train, bus, and ferry lines should be integrated into a seamless, easy-to-use, and efficient regional public transportation network.
This petition calls on the Bay Area's elected and appointed leaders prioritize creating an integrated reliable regional transit system connecting the Bay Area, consistent with the Seamless Transit Principles:
- Run all Bay Area transit as one easy-to-use system;
- Put riders first;
- Make public transit equitable and accessible to all;
- Align transit prices to be simple, fair, and affordable;
- Connect effortlessly with other sustainable transportation;
- Plan communities and transportation together; and
- Prioritize reforms to create a seamless network.

We call on you, our elected and appointed representatives of transportation agencies and state legislative committees, to urgently prioritize fixing the San Francisco Bay Area's region's fragmented and inefficient public transit system.
Our region is in crisis. The cost of living is sky high; Our traffic is out of control; and our climate is warming.
Our region's greenhouse emissions from transportation -- the largest source -- are rising due to more driving and falling public transit use.
The Bay Area’s fragmented, inefficient, and inconvenient public transit system worsens all of these problems, leaving many people with no option but to drive everywhere, spend too much money on transportation, and waste time in traffic-choked commutes.
We must transform the Bay Area’s public transit into a world-class, connected, convenient network that attracts far more riders and makes it easy to get around the region without a car.
We ask you to support bold policy reforms within your own agencies and the state legislature to support the long-term transformation of Bay Area public transit into a seamlessly integrated, customer-first system, following Seamless Transit Principles (https://www.seamlessbayarea.org/seamless-transit-principles):
1. Run all Bay Area transit as one easy-to-use system
2. Put riders first
3. Make public transit equitable and accessible to all
4. Align transit prices to be simple, fair, and affordable
5. Connect effortlessly with other sustainable transportation
6. Plan communities and transportation together
7. Prioritize reforms to create a seamless network
Sincerely,
