Work with BEA for a Fair Contract they Deserve

Burlington School Committee

Dear Valued Community Member,

The Burlington Educators' Association humbly asks for your support in the upcoming bargaining sessions with the Burlington School Committee. The BEA has been in negotiations with the school committee for months with limited progress.

The BEA has attempted to engage in discussion about the structure of the school day and year, which have remained unchanged since 1997. The BEA has proposed changes to the school day and year to better support student learning and staff development. The school committee has been unwilling to engage in meaningful conversation and have called any discussion of restructuring the school day or year a “non-starter”.

Student learning and staff development are of utmost importance to BEA members. We need community support to encourage School Committee members to listen to the voices of educators who are in the classrooms with your children on a daily basis. Please show your support for the BEA by signing this petition.

We, the undersigned, respectfully ask the Burlington School Committee and its representatives to continue working with the BEA to reach a fair and dignified agreement.

We are the unified voice of educators, parents, students, and concerned community members of Burlington. Educators uplift the quality of our schools and the daily lives of our children. We believe that the school committee and the BEA share a common interest in creating and developing an academic calendar and schedule that meets both the needs of our staff and students across the district.
