Cal Poly Divest!
Cal Poly and Auxiliaries
WE, THE CAL POLY STUDENT, FACULTY, AND STAFF COALITION FOR PALESTINE DEMAND:
TRANSPARENCY
Disclose all links between Cal Poly and the Military-Industrial Complex. Disclose all institutional expenditures, including direct and indirect investments, stocks, bonds, hedge funds, and other investments. We demand full and complete financial transparency of Cal Poly and its auxiliaries spending (Cal Poly Foundation, Cal Poly Partners, etc.), including money spent on policing student activity. We demand to know where Cal Poly and its auxiliaries use their funds.
DIVESTMENT FROM THE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX, HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS, AND GENOCIDE
Commit to removing investments in companies and mutual funds whose revenues come from weapons manufacturing and fossil fuels. Remove investments in companies involved in human rights violations.
AN END TO PARTNERSHIPS WITH THE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX AND COMPANIES AND INSTITUTIONS THAT BENEFIT FROM SETTLER COLONIALISM
Sever all links between Cal Poly and the Military-Industrial Complex. End the student-to-war manufacturing pipeline. Commit to removing partnerships with companies whose revenues come from weapons manufacturing and fossil fuels. Remove partnerships with companies involved in human rights violations.
AMNESTY FOR STUDENT, FACULTY, AND STAFF PROTESTORS
Drop all disciplinary charges and rescind all disciplinary sanctionsfor students, faculty, and staff resulting fromprotesting the genocide in Palestine. End the repressive restrictions on speech and assembly on campus in the CSU-wide Time, Place, Manner policy.
DENOUNCEMENT OF THE GENOCIDE
Provide crucial support to your Palestinian and SWANA students, faculty, and staff by denouncing the ongoing assault on Palestine and Lebanon as a genocide of the Palestinian people and its allies. Publicly support an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Palestine and an embargo of United States’ arms to Israel.
INCREASED SUPPORT FOR MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES
Establish links between Cal Poly and affirming life-giving futures for Palestinian, SWANA, Indigenous, Black and other marginalized communities. Materially and institutionally support the creation of autonomous, community-run safe and supportive spaces for Palestinian, SWANA, Indigenous, Black, and other marginalized students, faculty, and staff to grieve, educate, and come together during this targeted attack on their communities. Rather than continuing to extract from Palestinian, SWANA, Indigenous, Black, poor and working class, and other marginalized communities in the Central Coast, reinvest in historically marginalized communities, in direct consultation with these communities.
COMMUNITY-RUN SAFETY EFFORTS INSTEAD OF POLICE ON CAMPUS
Recognize that police do not keep us safe but rather escalate situations, putting students and organizers in harm's way. Dissolve the mutual aid assistance agreement between the Cal Poly Police Department and the San Luis Obispo Police Department. Initiate a process of removing policing on campus and implement community-run campus safety efforts instead.
