Kolkata delta’s festivals are meant to be about joy, lights, music, and togetherness. But
deafening noise and choking smoke are hurting people, pets, and the environment. From
sleepless nights to stressed dogs and birds, from rising health risks to polluted air—we’re
paying too high a price for “celebration.” Let’s keep the joy alive without harming our city
or each other.

3. Protect livelihoods, not pollution: Redirect state government funds (currently given to neighborhood clubs) into a budget that helps firecracker workers transition to safe, sustainable jobs.
4. Give citizens a voice: Create a community alert system so violations can be reported and acted upon quickly.
