Donald Trump and Elon Musk are breaking the law every day. They are usurping Congressional authority, stealing our tax dollars, firing thousands of critical federal workers without cause, eviscerating our scientific and health institutions, deporting people without due process, and defying the courts.

In the face of this wholesale destruction, Democratic voters across the country are rightly demanding bold leadership from the people we put in office. But by unequivocally giving in to Trump's radical budget demands, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) proved once and for all he is unwilling and unable to meet the moment. His sole job is to fight MAGA’s fascist takeover of our democracy – instead, he’s directly enabling it. In fact, he recently told MSNBC’s Chris Hayes that he does not think our democracy is at risk! In the face of such delusion, Democrats across the country are calling for him to step down.

Americans desperately need a real opposition party to stand up to Trump. It’s clear that will not happen as long as Schumer remains in charge of Senate Democrats. Pass The Torch, an all-volunteer effort of grassroots Democratic advocates, came together last year to urge Biden to Pass The Torch. Now it’s time to step up again, and ‘chuck’ Schumer out. We, the undersigned, call on him to resign, and we urge all Senate Democrats to demand the new leadership that both their caucus and the American people urgently need.
