Complete the Fenway Path Missing Link
The MBTA and the City of Boston
Phases I and II of the Fenway Multi-Use Path opened in 2022 and 2023. The final section, Phase III, would extend west from Fenway Station on the Green Line, beneath Park Drive, to connect to the Muddy River Path and the rest of the Emerald Necklace. Without this key "missing link," people walking, biking, or using wheelchairs must take a longer, more complicated, and less safe route through the busy Park Drive, Riverway and Brookline Avenue intersections. Numerous pedestrians have been injured by motor vehicles here, and a woman was killed when a person driving a truck struck her while she was bicycling.

I urge the MBTA and the City of Boston to work together to resolve the remaining issues holding up Phase III of the Fenway Multi-Use Path, complete the final design, and establish a timely schedule for construction.
This long-planned and funded connection between the Fenway Path and the Muddy River Path is an important missing link in Boston’s walking and bicycling network, and would create a safer, more direct route between the Emerald Necklace / Muddy River Path and the Fenway. Please work together to get Phase III built without further delay.
