Florida Members of Congress

Petition to Florida Members of Congress - all are welcome to sign

We, the citizens of the State of Florida, call upon you to censure and expel from the House of Representatives members from Florida and others states whose craven behavior aided and abetted the lies and disinformation manufactured and perpetuated by then-President Trump that fueled the flames of insurrection and treason, leading to the January 6, 2021 assault by a violent mob upon the Capitol and upon our democracy. At the very least, they all need to be removed from committee assignments.

The mob overwhelmed security, stormed the Capitol, interrupted Constitutional proceedings, threatened to hang Vice President Pence, hunted Speaker Pelosi, trashed the Capital, and beat police officers, leading to the death of five persons.

Amazingly, despite knowing that the claims of election fraud were baseless and had led directly to the violent attack witnessed by the entire nation, these House members only a few hours later persisted in perpetuating the bogus claims that animated the mob by brazenly objecting to and seeking to overturn the results of the 2020 Presidential election despite knowing that claims of election fraud were baseless and had been thrown out by scores of courts, including the Supreme Court.

They engaged in these actions for base personal gain, seeking to protect themselves from being primaried on the right in future elections.

By doing so, they placed personal prospects above their oath of service and duty to the Constitution and country, thereby demonstrating for all to see that they are not fit to serve.

As elected representatives in Congress we are asking that you support and co-sponsor Representative Cori Bush’s Resolution H.R. 276 to establish a national commission to investigate the seditious attack on the United States Capitol and Congress on January 6, 2021, address the systemic failures in the United States Capitol security and intelligence apparatus to accurately assess outside threats, and study and propose recommendations to realign the mission of the United States Capitol Police, and for other purposes.

Your job as a representative is to defend and uphold the constitution and under the Fourteenth Amendment, Section III:

“No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.”
