Congress must stop the GOP’s attacks on voters
U.S. House
Right now, multiple GOP-controlled state legislatures are doing everything in their power to keep voters who don’t support them away from the ballot box.
In Arizona, several bills have been introduced to make it harder to vote absentee. And in Georgia, the state House passed new legislation that would cut weekend voting, give voters less time to return their mail-in ballots, and more.
But that’s just the tip of the iceberg: experts say that over 200 anti-voter bills have been introduced in 43 states this year. [1]
These efforts to silence voters -- especially from Black and Brown communities -- are not only outrageous, but they go against everything our democracy stands for. GOP lawmakers didn’t like the results of the 2020 election -- so now, they’re seeking revenge and trying to dictate who can vote and who can’t.
The House has a momentous opportunity to put a stop to these attacks on the right to vote by passing the For the People Act (H.R. 1). This bill would not only protect crucial reforms like vote-by-mail and early voting -- but it would also implement proven, pro-voter solutions like automatic voter registration nationwide.
It’d also tackle many of the other problems that have plagued our democracy for too long -- like Big Money’s stranglehold on our elections, partisan gerrymandering, and weak ethics laws for elected officials.
And importantly, the For the People Act will be strongest when paired with another bill, the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act -- which would restore some of the vital protections from the Voting Rights Act that the Supreme Court gutted in 2013.
It’s time for Congress to fight for a democracy that works for all of us -- and pass the For the People Act and the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act. Right now, the right to vote depends on it. If you agree, add your name today.

For months, elected Republicans nationwide have spread dangerous and baseless lies about the 2020 election. And now, they’re using those lies as grounds to pass outrageous new laws -- designed to keep eligible voters from the ballot box.
Congress can -- and must -- put a stop to their horrific voter suppression schemes. We call on the House to pass the For the People Act (H.R. 1) and the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act to protect voters nationwide and their right to be heard.
