Curiko is core.

Sheila Malcolmson, Minister of Social Development and Poverty Reduction for BC

Curiko is an innovative platform connecting people with and without disabilities, creating essential opportunities for relationship-building, creativity, and meaningful engagement. Community Living British Columbia has withdrawn funding without community consultation, and the consequences of this decision are significant and urgent.

Platforms like this are not extras. They are critical for health and wellbeing, especially at a time when many people are experiencing profound isolation. Removing Curiko is not simply a funding decision. It will have real and lasting consequences in people’s lives. Families describe Curiko as life-changing—and in some cases, life-saving. You can read some of the letters community members have sent on the Voices of Curiko Substack.

We are respectfully asking that Sheila Malcolmson, Minister of Social Development and Poverty Reduction for BC, recognize the importance of Curiko and work to ensure that this platform can continue to operate in our community.

Dear Minister Malcolmson,

You've heard from hundreds of British Columbians affected by CLBC's decision to cut funding for Curiko. We ask that you recognize connection as a core need and essential service for people with disabilities, and you reinstate funding for Curiko.
