Dodgers Tour Guides Deserve Fair Wages & Benefits

Royce Cohen, Senior Vice President, Business Strategy, Dodger Stadium

Dodgers tour guides are the face of the team for thousands of fans fans every year. These workers bring Dodger history to life, create unforgettable experiences, and are a key part of what makes the Dodgers organization special to the public.

But despite their essential role, they’re being underpaid and unfairly treated. At just $17.28 an hour, most workers struggle to afford food and rent in Los Angeles. Many are juggling multiple jobs just to scrape by. On top of that, the Dodgers are trying to take away existing benefits — benefits that were promised as part of the job — simply because the guides voted to unionize. That’s not just unfair, it’s a clear act of union-busting.

We're calling on the Dodgers to do the right thing: maintain the benefits they already offered and provide a living wage to the people who represent the team every single day.

Signing this petition means standing up for fairness, decency, and the workers who make the Dodgers experience great. If you believe in treating people with dignity and paying them what they deserve, this is a simple and meaningful action you can take.

Dodgers tour guides are the only people selling Los Angeles and the Dodgers to members of the general public who want to know more about Dodger blue. The guides know as much about the team's history as anybody you could hope to find, and they share that knowledge face to face with thousands of guests every year. Unlike gameday staff, guides work 362 days a year to give Dodgers fans the best tour in the MLB. And they do all this for a growing number of tourists and local visitors every day.

But the Dodgers' treatment of tour guides doesn't reflect the incredible work the guides do for you. Many guides are struggling to buy food and pay rent. Most work multiple jobs as they attempt to make ends meet. Living in LA is expensive: a single adult with no children needs to earn at least $27.81 per hour to make a living wage, and yet you currently pay the guides only $17.28. That's not even close. They need a raise.

On top of this, the Dodgers are proposing to take away pre-existing benefits that were promised to attract people to the job. Reducing existing benefits because the guides voted to join a union is outrageous, not only because they were promised and given those benefits in the past, but also because it's blatant union-busting.

We respectfully demand that the Dodgers agree to a fair contract for tour guides that maintains all preexisting benefits and provides a living wage.
