Demand our Elected Officials call for a Ceasefire Now!
Wilmington and New Hanover County Elected Leaders

The far-right Israeli government has openly called for the forced displacement of the 2 million Palestinians living in Gaza. The defense minister has referred to Palestinians as “animals.” This is the language of genocide.
In the face of the imminent ethnic cleansing of millions people, the U.S. State Department and Biden administration has stated there is "no possibility" for a ceasefire and an end to the violence. Our Democratic Party leaders and elected officials in North Carolina have either openly endorsed the Israeli government's genocidal plan or remained silent.
We call on all of our North Carolina elected leaders to demand an immediate ceasefire. Silence is not an option.
Elected officials have a choice. Either stand in favor of peace and against apartheid or cheerlead a massacre.
History will remember which you choose.

At the time of this writing, it has been over a month since Israel's current far-right government enacted a campaign of collective punishment on innocent Gazans, foreign aid workers, and the captured Israeli hostages alike under the pretense of retaliation for the Hamas attack on October 7. The Israeli government has closed the borders around Gaza, trapping the population in. This while perpetuating countless war crimes by enacting a blockade of food, medicine, electricity, and water. No good faith effort are being made to free hostages. This vile "campaign" can only be called what it is: an effort to commit ethnic cleansing and eradicate Palestinians.
More than 6,000 bombs were dropped on the Gaza strip in the first week of this latest campaign, more than the number of U.S. bombs dropped in one year of the Afghanistan war. The Gaza strip, which is an area of just 141 square miles and home to 2.2 million people, has been subjected to the relentless airstrikes on civilian targets including hospitals, churches, schools, refugee camps, and entire neighborhoods. More than 10,000 Palestinian civilians, including entire families, mostly women and children, have been killed and many more thousands have been maimed. These people that we have lost are not numbers - they are real people with lives, families, dreams and like all people have the right to self-determination. How many more war crimes must we witness this far-right Israeli government commit in silence?
The U.S. is Israel's largest ally contributing more to the armament and funding of their military than any other nation and as such bears responsibility for its actions. Our nation is unique in the power to urge de-escalation and demand an immediate ceasefire. The U.S. House of Representatives leadership is attempting to give 14.5 billion dollars in additional military funding to the settler-colonial Israeli government. Closer to home, the N.C. General Assembly passed state House Resolution 897 urging Congress to unequivocally support Israel, quickly followed by a senatorial statement. We are calling upon our Democratic leaders’ courage and humanity to use their position of power to demand a ceasefire. Silence is complicity.
The undersigned of this letter are your constituents, your neighbors, your coworkers, and your friends. We are asking for the bare minimum: Please speak out against the atrocities being waged in our names.
We are asking that you immediately declare a public statement calling for three things:
- An immediate ceasefire and end to collective punishment
- Humanitarian aid
- Equal rights for Palestinians
This is an historic moment calling for moral fortitude in the fight for humanity. It should not take political courage to stand against genocide. History is watching and so are we - now is the time to stand with the people of North Carolina. We will remember those who chose to remain silent and those who spoke out.
