Dear Department of Education Leadership:
Protect Our Schools. Protect Our Teachers. Protect the Future.
We, the undersigned, demand the immediate removal of Amy Arundell from the UFT ballot. Her candidacy represents a direct threat to the safety, integrity, and inclusivity of our schools.
Amy Arundell’s history of antisemitic rhetoric, refusal to condemn terrorism, and alignment with radical political movements make her unfit to lead one of the nation’s largest teachers’ unions. The UFT must be a place for ALL educators, not a platform for extremism and division.
THE FACTS: WHY AMY ARUNDELL CANNOT LEAD THE UFT
Refusal to Condemn Terrorism
On October 7th, Hamas launched a brutal terrorist attack, massacring innocent civilians. When the UFT sought to pass a resolution condemning this atrocity, Amy Arundell objected.
A leader who refuses to denounce terrorism has no place in our schools.
Spreading Antisemitic & Anti-Israel Hate
• Amy Arundell has reposted tweets calling Zionists “literally the most evil people to walk this earth” and dismissing verified Hamas atrocities (including the beheading of babies) as “fake psyops.”
• She spreads false accusations that Israel is committing “ethnic cleansing” and “war crimes” while silencing Jewish educators who speak up.
• She refuses to answer a simple question: Do Jews have a right to live in their ancestral homeland? A UFT president must represent all educators. She does not.
Affiliations with Anti-Israel Boycott Movements
• Amy Arundell is actively involved with groups that support the BDS movement (Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions)—a campaign that seeks to financially cripple Israel and cut economic ties with Israeli businesses and institutions.
• These affiliations align with anti-Israel economic boycotts that harm Jewish businesses and organizations.
• BDS does not just target Israel—it creates economic fallout that impacts educators, retirees, and union members who rely on investments tied to Israel.
Dangerous Ties to Radical Organizations
• Amy Arundell is backed by CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations), an organization named an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorism-financing trial in U.S. history and has openly defended extremist figures.
• CAIR has publicly supported Arundell after she was removed from UFT leadership, raising concerns about their influence in our schools.
• She is part of the MORE Caucus, a radical faction that has rebranded itself into ARISE and A Better Contract (ABC) to obscure its origins and gain broader support among voters.
• These groups are using the UFT to push a political agenda, turning schools into battlegrounds for ideology instead of education.
Silencing Dissent & Censoring Educators
• Amy Arundell has used her position within UFT-affiliated spaces to suppress dissenting voices.
• Jewish and pro-Israel educators who challenged her views have been censored, banned, or removed from UFT groups where she holds administrative power.
• She has actively shut down conversations and retaliated against those who question her stance, creating an atmosphere of intimidation and fear.
• Under her leadership, teachers who support Israel or object to political indoctrination will have no protections.
EDUCATE YOURSELF. SEE THE PROOF. THEN TAKE ACTION.
Look at the evidence:
• Amy Arundell’s own social media posts, tweets, and affiliations are publicly available and speak for themselves.
• She repeatedly refused to condemn Hamas and objected to a UFT resolution condemning the October 7th attacks on innocent men, women, and children.
• MORE, ARISE, and ABC have significant ties to CAIR. Amy is publicly supported by CAIR, an organization that has both institutional and individual ties to extremist figures.
• She is involved with groups that promote BDS and divestment from Israel, a movement that harms Jewish businesses and could financially impact educators and retirees.
• Teachers who disagree with Amy have been censored, silenced, or removed from UFT-affiliated spaces.
WE DEMAND ACTION NOW:
REMOVE Amy Arundell from the UFT ballot:
-EXPOSE the deceptive rebranding behind ABC, ARISE, MORE, and their political agenda.
-PROTECT our schools from radicalization and ensure a safe environment for ALL educators and students.
-DEFEND our financial security by stopping Arundell’s dangerous affiliations with anti-Israel economic boycotts.
