As students, we are deeply invested in the integrity of the institution that we represent. Our education is not just about each of our individual experiences but a collective experience that binds us to the values and decisions of the University of Denver. Therefore, it is imperative that we, as key stakeholders within this institution, have a clear understanding of where and how all of our university’s funds are being utilized. The financial strain we endure in pursuit of our education necessitates a clear understanding of how our tuition fees are being managed and invested by the university. We hereby formally demand that the University of Denver disclose its entire investment portfolio. This includes, but is not limited to, details on investments in industries, companies, and financial bonds, as well as donor information.

Such transparency is crucial for several reasons:

• Financial Responsibility: Transparency in investments is essential for evaluating our university's financial stability and allows students to be aware and participate in informed discussions about the management of our funds.  

• Stakeholder Engagement: By providing full disclosure, the university demonstrates respect for its students, faculty, and staff, acknowledging our right to be informed and involved in decisions that directly impact our community.

• Ethical Considerations: We must ensure that our university’s investments align with the values we claim to uphold as an educational institution committed to social justice, environmental sustainability, and corporate responsibility.  

These disclosures are a standard practice in leading institutions worldwide that prioritize transparency and accountability. Just as you expect the institutions that govern us to communicate about how they spend taxpayer’s money, we hold the University of Denver to the same standard. We demand a public response outlining how and when the university will provide the requested information.
