So long as policing exists, we urge you to pass ordinances that ban from Portland & Multnomah County:

(1) Military-style or "warrior" training of law enforcement officers by the U.S. military, any foreign military or police, or any private company;

 (2) Acquisition by law enforcement of any weaponry from the U.S. military through the 1033 program; 

(3) Acquisition from any source or use of currently stockpiled automatic or semi-automatic weapons, armored personnel carriers, chemical weapons, smoke bombs, kinetic impact projectiles, acoustic weapons, directed energy weapons, water cannons, disorientation devices, or ultrasonic cannons; 

(4) Any law enforcement hiring practices that hold preference for applicants with military training over those who do not; 

(5) and any cooperation with or toleration of militarized policing in Portland & Multnomah County by state or federal forces.

We urge you to require that local law enforcement:

(1) Dismantle and dispose of all current stockpiles of weapons mentioned above in an ecologically sound manner within 2 years.
