To the Honorable Tony Burke MP, Minister for Home Affairs, Minister for Immigration and Citizenship.

We urge you to deport the Mohammad Sharab, a leader of the Pro-Palestinian movement in Australia.

He is not a “human rights activist”, as he claims. He has pleaded guilty to two assaults and is on trial on separate kidnapping and assault charges. He is a direct and ongoing threat to Australia's national security, democracy, reputation, civilian safety, social cohesion, and peaceful way of life.

​He must be deported.

“I AM HAMAS.”
​These are the words of publicly declared Hamas operative, self-confessed terrorist, and thug, "Mo" Sharab. Born in Khan Yunis in Gaza, Mohammad Elias Sharab (37). ​He is a leader of the pro-Palestinian movement in Australia and he has brought hate, radicalisation, terror and civil unrest to the streets of Melbourne.
​He has abused the rights and freedoms afforded him as a resident here and he should be deported.

Part 5.3 of the Criminal Code Act 1995 enables the Government to act against people who advocate terrorism and display prohibited hate symbols. It is an offence under the Act to display and trade prohibited terrorist organisation symbols, to use a carriage service for violent extremist material, and to possess violent extremist material. Sharab has done all these things.

Section 5 of the Australian Migration Act, 1958 states that revocation of a visa and deportation may be undertaken on the grounds that someone has committed serious crimes or poses a risk to the Australian community and the ​Minister should use those powers to deport Mohammad Sharab.

Australia is a free, tolerant and democratic society.​ We must protect our way of life by removing non citizens who break our laws and seek to destroy our society. He has to go.

Here are some of the statements he has made publicly:
He declared "I AM HAMAS" on camera, publicly aligning with a listed terrorist organisation proscribed in Australia since 5 November 2003, stating: “A big thank you needs to be paid to the resistance, long live the resistance, long live Hamas.” April 6, 2025;​
He states his aim and aligns himself with the global islamic extremist movement to destroy Israel. “We stand with Lybia, Yemen, Iran, Iraq, we stand with all the resistance movements to destroy Zionism”. April 22, 2024;​
He advocates against peace, saying “fuck your peace, we demand revolution” May 3, 2024;​
He calls for "armed resistance" and direct action "by any means necessary". Sharab has stated: “I say give America what it deserves, death”; “There is only one solution, intifada, revolution.” On the same day he led groups of protestors in the chant “Fuck Israel” July 10, 2024;​
He engages in xenophobic bigotry. While burning an Israeli flag, Sharab stated: “This is Zionism, Zionism is going to be burnt.” July 7, 2024;​
He incites violence and glorifies terrorism, leading chants at pro-Palestinian rallies of "Long Live the Resistance", "Glory to the Martyrs", and "From the River to the Sea". This abolitionist chant was deemed "a very violent statement" by former ASIO, Defence and DFAT head Dennis Richardson. It was denounced as "extremely violent" by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and overwhelmingly condemned by the Australian Senate (52:12), as it "opposes Israel’s right to exist. It is frequently used by those who seek to intimidate Jewish Australians via acts of antisemitism" April 9, 2025;​
Charged with kidnapping and gruesome torture​ of a Melbourne man, with two fellow "pro-Palestinian" activist co-conspirators;
Reportedly breached parole conditions multiple times​ by meeting with co-conspirators;
Violently harassed, intimidated, and assaulted an innocent bystander and football fan on 28th April, 2024 and together with fellow "protestors" made violent threats against journalists. He said "I'm going to f**king get you", "If I can't touch you, I've got people to touch you", "He knows who I am, he knows what I'm capable of", and "Do you think I can't deal with you both" outside the Victorian Parliament on April 30, 2024​;
Plead guilty to charges of unlawful assaults and using threatening words during protests on September 13, 2024​.

We, the undersigned, demand:
Sharab’s immediate deportation under the Criminal Code Act 1995​. He has pleaded guilty to assault charges and is facing kidnapping charges and should be deported under the Migration Act. Australia’s anti-terror and national security laws allow a ban on individuals who endorse, support, or are affiliated with terrorist organisations entering or remaining in Australia.

AUSTRALIA’S NATIONAL ANTISEMITISM CRISIS
Sharab is a spearhead of the pro-terror protest movement in Australia, fomenting hate and division on the steps of the Victorian Parliament and city streets in support of the so-called "Islamic Resistance Movement".
Regular weekly protests cost Australian taxpayers​ between $220,000 to $1,000,000 per protest in police wages, with one three-day event in ​​Melbourne.​​blowing out to an estimated $25 million.​ This hijacking of the Australian democratic right to protest is costing Australians who are forced to pay through their taxes for road closures and policing that prevent access for others, disrupt businesses, while failing to act against racist and anti-semitic chants, hatred and vitriol.

Australia continues to face a national antisemitism crisis, including astronomical surges in recorded antisemitic hate crimes, mass doxxing, threats to individuals (including a five year old), car-bombings, graffiti, vandalism, residential home attacks, the firebombing of a synagogue, and a bomb plot devised by a Hitler-worshipping fugitive​. Some of these attacks were organised and coordinated by the Iranian government which is behind the world’s most violent terror groups including Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis. By allowing these groups to prosper in Australia we are eroding the fabric of our own democracy and our way of life that embraces difference and provides shelter to those who need it.

Sharab rejects peace and is obsessed with the destruction of Israel, Australia's only democratic ally in the Middle East, an indispensable security and intelligence partner with "enormous capacity"​, which played a key part in foiling an Islamic State plot to blow up an Etihad flight from Sydney in July, 2017​.

Australians fought in the ANZAC Sinai and British Mandatory Palestine Campaigns, from the 28 January 1915 to 31 October 1918, and played a proud role in the diplomatic recognition of the Jewish State​. Australia was the first country to vote in favour of the 1947 UN partition resolution, which ultimately led to the creation of Israel as a nation state. Australia established diplomatic relations with Israel in 1949 and in the same year presided over the vote admitting Israel to the United Nations.

Sharab is actively working to support reversal of Australian foreign policy. He wants to bring foreign war, terrorism, and division to our streets, by creating civil unrest and inciting hatred between Australian communities.
