The COVID-19 Pandemic and resulting economic crisis revealed the inherent failures and inequities of our current healthcare system; people of color and underserved communities have disproportionately paid with their lives, and the social and economic destruction caused by the pandemic was only made worse under an employer-based system not designed to deliver healthcare to everyone.
- No one should go without health care coverage because they lost their jobs due to a pandemic or any other crisis.
- No one should go bankrupt because they can not afford health care bills
- No one should be denied care for the lack of affordability
There is a solution that can save all Californians' money and save lives. A health care system that will provide Guaranteed Comprehensive Health Care for All Californians. We have an opportunity over the next year to pass Assembly Bill 1400 (Calcare) in our state legislature. AB1400/Calcare will provide us with guaranteed comprehensive healthcare that is considerably more affordable.*
In order to get AB1400/CalCare passed by the CA legislature and signed into law by the Governor, you need to let your legislator and the Governor know that you want him to represent you by voting and signing to pass CalCare into law.
Here is the plan;
- Sign this petition indicating that you want your state legislators and the Governor to pass and implement AB1400/CalCare the Guaranteed Health Care for All Act.
- Call the Governor and your legislator and tell them the following; I CalCare and you should too, pass and implement AB1400/CalCare**

*AB1400/Calcare will guarantee the following;
Universal Coverage Everybody in, nobody out. Everybody, regardless of race, sex, gender, country of origin, disability status, immigration status, marital status, age, and income, get the care they need regardless of ability to pay.
A Single Public Program A single-payer, publicly funded through progressive taxation, to cover all necessary care in California, eliminating billions in bloat and waste and saving people thousands on their health care costs.
Fully Comprehensive Benefits Includes medical, dental, hearing, vision, mental health, prescription drugs, long-term care, and more. All decisions about
care would be made between you and your doctors and nurses, not insurance companies.
Freedom To Choose Your Care Provider Under CalCare, there would be no more “in-network” or “out of network.” You would have the freedom to choose any doctor or hospital you’d like.
Free At The Point Of Service No more copays, premiums, or deductibles. You arrive at the doctor’s office, show them your CalCare card, and get the care you need. It’s that simple!
Just Transition Funding and programs to protect and support any displaced workers in the insurance industry.
Patient Care Based On Patient Need No more financial incentives to avoid providing necessary care, including "value-based" payment models for providers.
