Social Security is a beautiful intergenerational promise. We work hard, pay in, and it will be there for us. But there’s nothing Trump likes more than breaking promises and driving wedges between the American people. Together, we’re going to stop him.

The truth is, the COVID-19 pandemic has revealed the ways we rely on each other as a society. In the future that we build on the other side of this crisis, we should be building those bonds, not severing them. That’s what Social Security does, and that’s why we should build on it, not destroy it.

Young people are going to need Social Security. Student debt, stagnant wages, and disappearing pensions are leaving us without the retirement security enjoyed by previous generations. And, right now, politicians in Washington are successfully convincing younger generations that Social Security won’t be there for us when we retire.

That’s a lie. We pay into Social Security with every paycheck, and as long as people keep doing that, there will always be money for Social Security. The only way that changes is if politicians stop those payroll contributions from coming.
