Drop BP Sponsorship

National Portrait Gallery, British Museum, Royal Opera House

Right now, the British Museum, National Portrait Gallery and Royal Opera House are all sponsored by BP. Whether or not their sponsorship is renewed is likely to be decided in 2015.

In return for contributing only a tiny percentage of each organisation’s income, BP gets desperately-needed credibility. This helps distract from its toxic activities around the world: a business plan that’s pushing us into climate disaster.

Our cultural institutions should not be promoting the fossil fuel industry. They should act responsibly, and be places where we can imagine a culture beyond oil.

Sign this petition to tell the UK’s most iconic cultural institutions to drop BP sponsorship.

To the Trustees of the Boards of the British Museum, National Portrait Gallery, Royal Opera House and Tate:
As a visitor to one or more of the British cultural institutions you govern and as someone very concerned about climate change, I call on you to end your sponsorship relationship with BP.

BP is one of the three companies that has most caused the climate crisis humanity faces.
We need arts and culture to act responsibly as part of the solution to ensuring a safe and liveable climate for everyone not part of creating the problem of dangerous climate change by backing Big Oil.

Stop promoting the fossil fuel industry. Drop BP.
