Rep. LaMonica McIver was exercising her legal right to oversight at an ICE facility. Then the Trump Administration tried to charge her with assault. We see this for what it is: a calculated distraction to cover up what’s really happening inside those detention centers.

This is what happens when Black women confront the BS. They try to humiliate us. When we speak our truth, they call us angry. When we demand justice, they label us aggressive. When we show up in power, they say we’re “out of control.” And when we refuse to back down, they criminalize us.

The result? A sitting Congresswoman. A Black woman. Arrested for doing her job.
