The United States pays, by far, the highest prices for prescription drugs of any country in the world. Medicines in the United States may cost over five times as much as they do in Canada.
That’s why, today, Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Ro Khanna are announcing The Prescription Drug Price Relief Act, which would force drug companies to price medicines equal to or below the median price of the same drug in five countries: Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Japan. This legislation would lower drug prices for all Americans.

For too long, Big Pharma’s price gouging and monopoly power have gone unchecked by Congress. It’s time to change the way we deliver health care in the United States to be based in justice, not profits. We demand Congress pass Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Ro Khanna’s Prescription Drug Price Relief Act, which would force drug companies to price medicines equal to or below the median price of the same drug in other countries.
