We, the undersigned, address you respectfully but firmly to demand that, in accordance with Article 6 of Chapter II of the United Nations Charter, formal procedures be initiated for the Security Council to resolve the expulsion of the State of Israel from the UN for repeatedly violating the principles contained therein.

Through various means and spokespersons, the State of Israel has let the world know that it is determined to wipe out Palestine, with all its people, its infrastructure and its memory. Meanwhile, it accuses anyone who denounces this genocide as ‘anti-Semitism’, even going so far as to repress Jewish Israeli citizens who oppose this genocide, violating their civil rights as well.

It is clear that the Israeli government is not only murdering the Palestinian people with bombs and missiles; that it is not only destroying vital hospital infrastructure to care for the survivors, but it is also starving and thirsting more than two million people trapped in the narrow Gaza Strip. Not only has it taken away their water, bread, medicine, electricity, but it has also contaminated the bodies of Gazans with toxins while poisoning their land, rendering it infertile.

We will not repeat here the list of atrocities committed by Israel since October 8 2023 against Gaza and the West Bank. Nor will we recall all the atrocities that Israel has committed over more than seven decades. The list is long and this is no longer the time to denounce something that the UN rapporteurs themselves have documented since the founding of the State of Israel and up to now. We will only say that, for all these reasons, it is inexplicable, unjustifiable and unacceptable that the international community, including its universities, maintain institutional, commercial and academic links with an openly genocidal regime. It is shameful for this set of institutions that this letter is even necessary.

We therefore call on the member countries of the UN Security Council, UN General Assembly, but also on the Heads of State, the governing authorities of all academic and university institutions, to immediately expel Israel from all international diplomatic, academic, sporting and cultural events to which it has been invited, as well as the removal of any existing institutional ties with that State.

We recognise that the situation that the Palestinian people are facing is urgent, and it is therefore also urgent and necessary to establish a boycott of the weapons and the business of death that makes their extermination possible before it is too late. We demand consequences to the criminal actions of a genocidal state like Israel, which has absolutely ignored every resolution that the UN General Assembly has issued, condemning the occupation of Palestinian territory. If we do not stop this genocide today, we will not be able to stop the genocides of tomorrow.

It’s clear to us now that, with Gaza, humanity is also dying. We want Palestine, the heart of the world, to continue to exist.

Los abajo firmantes nos dirigimos a ustedes de forma respetuosa pero firme para exigir que, de acuerdo con el artículo 6 del capítulo II de la Carta de las Naciones Unidas, se comiencen los procedimientos formales para que el Consejo de Seguridad resuelva la expulsión del Estado de Israel de la ONU por violar repetidamente los principios ahí contenidos.

Por diversos medios y voceros, el Estado de Israel ha hecho saber al mundo que está decidido a desaparecer Palestina, con toda su gente, su infraestructura y su memoria. En tanto, acusa de “antisemitismo” a cualquiera que denuncie su proceder, llegando incluso a reprimir a los ciudadanos judíos israelíes que se oponen a este genocidio, violando también sus derechos civiles.

Está claro que el gobierno israelí no sólo asesina al pueblo palestino con bombas y misiles; que no sólo destruye infraestructura hospitalaria vital para atender a los sobrevivientes, sino que también está matando de hambre y sed a casi dos millones de personas atrapadas en la estrecha franja de Gaza. No sólo les ha quitado el agua, el pan, las medicinas, la electricidad, sino que también ha contaminado los cuerpos de los gazatíes con toxinas mientras que ha envenenado su tierra volviéndola infértil.

No vamos a repetir aquí la lista de atrocidades cometidas por Israel desde el 8 de octubre contra Gaza y Cisjordania. Tampoco vamos a recordar todos los atropellos que Israel ha cometido a lo largo de más de siete décadas. La lista es larga y no es éste ya el lugar para denunciar algo que los mismos relatores de la ONU han documentado desde que se fundó el Estado de Israel y hasta ahora. Sólo diremos que, por todo ello es inexplicable, injustificable e inaceptable que la Comunidad Internacional, incluyendo sus universidades, sostenga vínculos institucionales, comerciales y académicos con un régimen abiertamente genocida. Es vergonzoso para este conjunto de instituciones, que esta carta sea necesaria.

Por eso solicitamos a los países miembros del Consejo de Seguridad de la ONU, pero también a los Jefes de Estado, las autoridades directivas y rectoras de todas las instituciones académicas y universitarias, la expulsión inmediata de Israel de todo evento diplomático, académico, deportivo y cultural internacional al que haya sido convocado, así como la supresión de cualquier vínculo institucional vigente con dicho Estado.

Reconocemos que la situación que enfrenta el pueblo palestino es apremiante, por lo que es urgente y necesario también establecer un boicot al armamento y al negocio de la muerte que hace posible su exterminio, antes de que sea demasiado tarde. Exigimos consecuencias a las acciones criminales de un Estado genocida como Israel, que ha ignorado absolutamente todas las resoluciones que la Asamblea General de la ONU ha emitido, condenando la ocupación del territorio palestino. Si no paramos el genocidio de hoy, no podremos detener los genocidios del mañana.

Por eso hoy tenemos en claro una cosa: con Gaza se muere también la humanidad.
