Since 2018, Madison Square Garden has used and abused an extensive facial recognition technology to track visitors, especially ones billionaire owner James Dolan doesn’t like. Since then, fans have allegedly been stalked and banned for criticizing Dolan, working for the wrong law firm, and even being trans.
Fans shouldn’t have to give over our privacy to Dolan’s petty tyranny just to see our teams play. There’s a simple way to stop this: tell the New York City Council to ban facial recognition technology in public places!

I’m an NYC sports fan and I’m deeply concerned about Madison Square Garden’s invasive and discriminatory facial recognition system. I don’t think this tech belongs anywhere in our city. I’m writing to demand an immediate vote on Introduction 213, to ban facial recognition technology in places of public accommodation. A majority of City Council members support this common sense bill to protect the public from private mass surveillance. It’s unacceptable for the Speaker to prevent this legislation from being voted on.
