FCPS employees working in transportation, custodial, maintenance, family services, and other support departments are infuriated that their current bonus pay of $500 pales in comparison to the $1000 that teachers are receiving. Federal COVID funds are available, and with neighboring counties recently raising their pay, FCPS leadership must implement a meaningful change to address this inequity.
As employees, parents, and community members, we petition you to:
1. Raise the bonus pay currently allocated to support professionals from $500 to $1000 in a timely manner. (Also, increase ESY bonus pay to the same $2000 level of teachers.)
2. Announce this new change in a public domain, with resources for anyone with questions or concerns.
Operational staff and support professionals keep FCPS running year-long. Their hard work and sacrifices on the job deserve the same recognition and rewards as everyone else. The current position by leadership is contradictory to the equitable, caring community FCPS professes to value as one of its guiding principles. FEA will always stand with all employees within the school system, inside the classroom and out.
