We, the undersigned, demand that FedEx Corporation respond to Tennessee's eight-month dismantling of Memphis democracy with five concrete public commitments:
1. Publicly oppose Tennessee's new congressional map, the MSCS state takeover, and HB 483.
2. Commit, in writing, that FedEx Corporate PAC will make no contributions to the Tennessee legislators who sponsored or voted for those laws.
3. Commit $10 million to GOTV and voter education in the redrawn Tennessee congressional districts, to ensure Memphians know when, where, and how to vote.
4. Adopt a standing policy opposing state preemption of municipal authority in Tennessee.
5. Publish an annual report of FedEx political giving, lobbying, and trade association positions on voting rights, redistricting, and preemption in every state where FedEx operates.
FedEx Corporate PAC has given approximately $1.9 million to Tennessee state lawmakers since 2009. FedEx, headquartered in Memphis, has remained silent while the state took the schools, attacked the prosecutor, sent the National Guard, and carved Memphis into three congressional districts.
If Memphis is harmed by these maps, the harm runs back through every dollar FedEx gave. FedEx funded the people who did this. FedEx has to help undo it.
