Dear Forsyth County Commissioners,
I am writing to express my opposition to Williams Transco’s proposed Southeast Supply Enhancement Project. I am concerned about the project’s negative impacts to community health, environmental harms and impeding the region’s transition to clean, renewable energy.
SSEP could result in 60 million metric tons of carbon emissions per year, equivalent to 13 million cars and would add significantly to the climate crisis. This overbuilding of fossil fuel infrastructure locks us into more harmful air pollution, instead of
choosing available safer, cheaper and more energy-efficient options.
The size of the pipe and required right-of-way will harm many rural landowners and farms, as well as water resources along the route, disturbing critical habitat and degrading sacred cultural sites. There are severe health and safety impacts to North Carolina citizens through the air, water, and soil pollution that will be brought about by this project.
I urge you to pass a resolution against Transco’s proposed Southeast Supply Enhancement Project (SSEP).
